Stylefish has created sites for a wide variety of entities, including start-ups,
nonprofits and corporations. We've chosen the following sites to highlight the diversity
of our portfolio.

*Stylefish is a Minneapolis company, right? Why so many Texas sites?
Good question! We -- the owners of Stylefish -- are
a married couple originally from Minnesota. We started our company in 2000 while living down in San Antonio, Texas. While we loved
San Antonio, we sorely missed Minneapolis, and in January of 2006 arranged to move our company here to our hometown. Since word of mouth has been
our primary advertising, many of our clients still hail from Texas.

The Majestic and Empire Theatres
 |
 |
 |
 |
It's impossible to overstate the grandeur of San Antonio's Majestic Theatre. Incredibly
ornate, the theatre is a "fantasy villa" of balconies, balconies, tile roofs, columns and towers, all under a vaulted "sky"
complete with subtle, floating clouds and blinking stars. While less ornate, the Charline McCombs Empire
Theatre is equally lovely, completely
restored to its original luster and reopened in 1998. Together, the two theatres host some of the biggest
acts to come through San Antonio.
Arts Center Enterprises (ACE), Inc., which manages the two theatres, came to us for a redesign of the current Majestic
& Empire website. They wanted a site that was easy to navigate and allowed them to update events themselves
on a regular basis, as well as send out event notices to those signed up on their email list. Furthermore, they wanted it
designed in a style that was "them," not a clean corporate site but a lush, textural design reflecting the grandeur
of the two theatres.
To allow ACE to maintain their own events, we created a Content Management System (CMS) which enables the
them to update calendars with no knowlede of html or special software. They can add events, designate special
events as featured, add images and format text all through a special admin area accessed directly
from their browser.
Because ACE understandably wanted photos of the two theatres displayed prominently on the home page, our design challenge was
to allow the photos to be large enough to see the incredible detail, while keeping the design from becoming too busy. We accomplished
this by separating the two photos with rich gold frames, which not only define the space but add an extra element of almost
over-the-top grandeur. To add cohesion to the design, we added subtler gold bars along the sidebar and top of the page. Colors throughout the
site are the bold, luxurious hues of the theatres themselves: rich blues, golds, oranges and burgandies.

The Fort (at Fort Snelling)
 |
 |

|
 |
The Fort is a multi-sports complex currently under construction in St. Paul. Because The Fort is a new venture, the initial phase of the website is aimed at a mixed audience:
investors and others who can help move the project forward, and skateboarders, rollerbladers and others who
will be the target audience of the complex, and may be interested in purchasing an early membership through
the website.
Because the site is partially (and eventually will be entirely) aimed at teenagers,
the design needed to be hip enough to attract them while remaining clean and corporate enough to retain
the interest of investors.
One of the primary goals of the website is to generate buzz. We included an updateable scrolling news
box on the homepage to allow the client to add daily updates about the development of the complex, thus
keeping the public engaged and excited about the project. To help spread the word, we created a "tell
a friend" system, where users can win a chance for a free membership with each friend they refer.
To encourage potential investors to register with the site, we used PHP to provide a different site structure to
those who had registered for a password and those who had not. For unregistered users, greyed-out links
appear in the sidebar, hinting at the content available; once a password is applied for, these links become
full-color and accessible.
To allow folks to purchase early memberships, as well as Fort hats
and shirts, we included the Stylefish e-commerce system, Fish::Cart. This unique system is fully
customizable to meet the exact needs of each client, and visually matches the look of the rest
of the site.

Bury Partners
 |
 |
 |
 |
Bury + Partners Engineering Solutions is a dynamic,
diversified engineering and consulting firm whose experienced professionals thrive on crafting successful solutions
for public and private projects. In redesigning their website, we wanted to emphasize what their tagline says best:
"their people set them apart." To do this, we used photos of key staff members, set against faded, blurry backgrounds representing
projects or areas of expertise. These photos were introduced in simple flash animations which could easily be updated in case of staff turnover.
Since Bury has created and consulted on some very impressive projects, we created a Project Database, which would allow
designated Bury employees to easily add project thumbnails and descriptions as projects are completed. Each project is
hooked into an advanced search, allowing users to cross-reference projects by location, industry and sector, as well as keywords.

River Rock Cafe
 |
 |

 |
 |
The River Rock Cafe, located in Fair Oaks, Texas, serves natural, homegrown gourmet food in a funky stone building
replete with Texas style. The cafe is one part of a complex including a therapy center/spa and guest cottages, but retains its
own identity.
Formerly a breakfast and lunch spot, the cafe recently added a full dinner menu. With money set aside for an ad campaign announcing
the change, it seemed like a good time to upgrade their logo, a simple type treatment. In keeping with the natural, earthy feel
of the food and location, we created a river image that takes the shape of a fork. The organic feel is complemented by the colors, rich
brown and vibrant blue.
The site itself uses colors found throughout the cafe: a funky pea green (the tint of their color-washed stucco walls) and
a complementary orange. This color scheme not only conveys the look and feel of the location, but made it easier to integrate
the many photos on the site into a cohesive whole.
